Top 10+ Best PS4 Adventure Games With Super Tense Story

By J K October 11, 2021

Adventure is one of the PS4 game genres that continues to be popular with gamers all around the world. The tension in each adventure game keeps players from being bored while playing this sort of game.

Currently, a growing number of game studios are launching the best PS4 adventure games with compelling story and, of course, tense scenes game with GD version.

List The Best PS4 Adventure Games

We've put together a collection of the best PS4 adventure games that you might like playing in your spare time, especially if you enjoy themed adventure games. The following are some of the adventure games on our list:

Red Dead Redemption 2

You can put on outlaw Arthur Morgan's stirrups and spend hours upon hours wandering across the waning days of the Western frontier with your trusty horse and a few old pals in one of the most ambitious and extensive games in recent memory.

You play as a member of Dutch van der Linde's legendary gang, alongside a younger version of the original, legendary Red Dead protagonist John Marston, in this prequel to the much-loved Red Dead Redemption, oddly named Red Dead Redemption 2, and are able to ride freely across a great American landscape.

As the Wild West's age draws to a close, you must choose between being an honorable man or spending your days as a ruthless outlaw - the option is yours as you lasso your way through one adventure after another.

Marvel’s Spider-Man

When it debuted into the PS4 platform in 2018, this PS4 exclusive proved to be quite a hit. Marvel's Spider-Man was the perfect reminder that one of the greatest and most relatable heroes of all time would always be a kid from Queens in a modern world that may often feel oversaturated with new and "better" superheroes.

Insomniac Games' Spidey delivers perhaps the most familiar depiction of Peter Parker yet - as a broke graduate just trying to pay his rent - thanks to sophisticated gaming mechanics that make you feel as if you're truly swinging from one iconic landmark to another across the New York cityscape (and save the city from super villains).

Marvel's Spider-Man is a terrific journey into the never-ending world of New York City's iconic webslinger, complete with hours of plot, amusing and moving side missions, and meticulous attention to detail.

God of War

Anyone who had a console in 2005 would recall Kratos' struggles and tribulations as the infamous Spartan god and foreteller of doom in the ancient world, right? Even if you haven't played the original God of War series, the PS4 reboot released in 2018 is fantastic and time consuming enough to divert anyone's attention away from the current events.

In a moving story about a father and son, you play as Kratos on a seemingly routine journey to spread the ashes of his late wife (and his kid's mother), only to become caught in Odin's wrath, the whispering of the World Serpent, and the tales of a variety of other mythical figures.

God of War is both a thrilling adventure and a poignant exploration of the sacrifices we make for family, and it is both thrilling and tear-jerking. For more info, you can check God of War review PS4.

Uncharted Collection

Top 10+ Best PS4 Adventure Games With Super Tense Story

Is it even possible to talk about outstanding adventure games without bringing up Nathan Drake's name at least once? You get to step into the old journeyman's boots of Nathan - treasure hunter extraordinaire and all-around lovable Indiana Jones type, with his own fascinating past to boot - in Naughty Dog's definitive franchise (if you can excuse the pun).

Nathan journeys throughout the world with his ragged companions in pursuit of artefacts, truth, and glory in four chapters.

Uncharted is unlimited in the joys it delivers for anyone wondering if X really does mark the spot with all the spare time they have at home now, with riddles, shoot-outs, and plenty of stealth for those who love sneaking their way through crumbling ruins.

Telltale's The Walking Dead (Series 1)

Top 10+ Best PS4 Adventure Games With Super Tense Story

This take on the seemingly everlasting comic book series, arguably Telltale's crown gem, is loaded with emotional anguish, sensitivity, and near-impossible choices to make; all while facing hordes of walkers. Don't let the fact that The Walking Dead is rooted in emotion fool you into believing it isn't also a dynamic and often horrifying piece of action.

You'll have to defend yourself from the creatures ripping at your flesh as well as make challenging and strategic decisions. If you're stuck in lockdown, go no further than this morality test hidden behind an ordinary zombie game that you may otherwise overlook.

Life is Strange

This trip through an extraordinary period of time in a teenage girl's life is filled with moments where the choices you make are bound to have an unchangeable impact on the future, comparable to The Walking Dead.

Life is Strange is set in a small town that acts as a timid and delicate study of identity. The protagonist Max attempts to uncover the mystery that is surrounding her home by rewinding time, forging and losing connections.

Life is Strange is the ideal trip for anyone seeking poignancy in their gaming, with superb storyline and emotional intelligence on display at all moments.

The Last of Us

It's difficult to put The Last of Us into a category. The story of Joel, Ellie, and their trek through a bleak America is part searing tale of humanity, part classic tragedy, and part harrowing test of survival; it has some of the most powerful scenes in gaming history and is unquestionably one of the best adventures ever.

Joel and Ellie are no less explorers than Naughty Dog's other famous protagonists, such as Nathan Drake, however they are not in pursuit of buried wealth but rather a life free from the infected who prowl the overgrown streets.

The Last of Us is an incredibly well-paced and structured piece of work, with gameplay that frequently sees you counting your bullets and making 'em count, staying hidden from those infamous "clickers," and wandering through the ruins of former American states. Just don't be afraid to cry every now and then.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate

Assassin's Creed Syndicate

Where do I begin with the many delights of the Assassin's Creed universe? When you join the Brotherhood of Assassins, you'll never be short of heroic travels to engage on, from Altair's initial escapades during the Crusades in the first chapter to the ancient Greek antics of the Misthios in 2018's Assassin's Creed: Odyssey.

This entry, set in Victorian London, has to be a personal favorite, owing to the author's unique and refreshing usage of twin characters in Jacob and Evie Frye.

Both get to take on separate missions tailored to their personalities and story arcs as they negotiate the underbelly of London's organized crime, and both come with very fetching - though luckily not matching - clothes. At the very least, Syndicate is worth playing for the chance to fight your way past Beefeaters and through the Tower of London.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Lockdown can be a depressing experience, therefore you may need a gaming friend with a sardonic sense of humour to keep you occupied through the gloomy days of isolation.

In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Geralt the Witcher brings one of the most expansive and versatile adventures ever seen, as you inadvertently become embroiled in a power struggle between empires and even solve a few murder mysteries involving elves and werewolves while searching for your adopted daughter across a vast and forgiving landscape.

Geralt of Rivia's numerous quests are plentiful and dramatic enough that no gamer will be disappointed once they pick up a controller and put his Witcher's medallion.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the final piece in the puzzle that is Lara Croft's early years of, well, raiding tombs. It's a satisfying and intriguing end to Lara's origin story. Lara Croft has been a staple in the world of adventure gaming since 1996, and the 2013 reboot further solidified her standing as a titan of action and historical mystery solving.

The story of Shadow of the Tomb Raider is dominated by tales of hidden cities, great spiritual forces, artefacts, and Lara's irrepressible desire for achievement that we've come to associate with her over the years. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is an epic adventure set mostly in the Americas and filled with brilliantly detailed local tales.

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus

There's probably nothing more fulfilling than repeatedly annihilating hordes of Nazis while also fusing your body with a beefed-up supersuit. That's something you can quote me on.

In this umpteenth chapter in the iconic series, BJ Blazkowicz reprises his role as BJ Blazkowicz, and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus may be the only game ever to contain an entire sequence in which you stand face to face with Adolf Hitler on Venus.

That does, in fact, happen. Wolfenstein immerses you in the heart of the beast (a Nazi-occupied America) and lets you to wreak havoc on anybody who stands in the path of freedom. The New Colossus is not just a barrel of laughs, but it also features a cast of memorable characters and moments of both humor and tenderness. Overall, it's a (literal) hoot.

That is our list of the best PS4 adventure games. Do any of the adventure games listed above catch your interest?
